My name is Ernie Roman. I’m a retired Sergeant with the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division. I served in Vietnam.
This Memorial Day, it reminds me of a lot of things. It reminds me of the countless number of fallen heroes that gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country through numerous wars.
I was one of the lucky ones. I came home— although not with all of my body parts. But I was still lucky. You may ask, “How can you say you’re lucky?” Well, once again, I came home.
All of you who are celebrating on Memorial Day, having picnics and family gatherings, take a few moments, maybe by yourself in a quiet place, just to say thanks to all the men and women who courageously served this great country.
Thank you very much. God bless you and God bless America.
