5 Easy Spring Cleaning Tips To Have You Organized and Refreshed for the New Season
By Krista Roman
In search of a little motivation to tidy things up for Spring? Look no further than these five simple tips for an organized and refreshed home.
1. Declutter
Before you can even think about properly organizing or cleaning, sort through your belongings. Edit what stays and what goes. Make separate piles for keep, donate, sell, and discard. Purging what no longer serves you will allow space for less stress, more healing, and an easier daily routine. List any valuable items online for sale or take it to a consignment shop to add some extra funds for the warmer months. There truly is a magic in tidying up that opens the energy for positive shifts in your body, mind and soul.
2. Organize
Invest in uniform storage bins and baskets to categorize and contain your items. By keeping an organizational system in place where everything has a designated spot, it makes staying organized a breeze. Keep like items together. For example: If you have a lot of seasonal decorations or ephemera, keep your bins separated and clearly labeled for each holiday or category. If you store winter clothing in an attic or spare closet, fold or vacuum seal your clothes by type to make it easier to find your pieces next season.
3. Get To Cleaning
Make a list of every chore you need to tackle or follow along with this checklist for ideas on what cleaning practices are the best course of action. If cleaning bores you, make it more enjoyable by playing your favorite music or listening to a podcast to pass the time. Episodes of Quite Frankly are available on Spotify and Frank has also curated a music playlist for each of the seasons. Please leave us a 5 star review while you’re there.
4. Detail Your Car
We spend a significant amount of time in our vehicles. Remember to keep your car clean, too. Take advantage of a beautiful Spring day by clearing out your mode of transportation. Deep clean the interior and exterior of the car. If you choose to keep an emergency bag or handy kit in your vehicle, make sure nothing is expired and all items are up-to-date and replenished.
5. Clear Your Mind
Take a walk in the park to observe the Spring blooms, meditate, or experience a sound bath. Whatever your preferred mode of decompressing, indulge. After all of your cleaning and organizing, you are more than deserving of some R&R. When we are balanced physically, emotionally and spiritually, maintaining a clean and organized home becomes second nature.
